Jin-woo is raising his niece and tending to a sheep farm in provincial Hwacheon when his partner Hyun-min joins him from the city and begins teaching at a local poetry class. As the three of them settle into living together, Jin-woo’s sister arrives at their doorstep and upsets their peaceful balance. Suddenly the two men have to reckon with the deceptions of their rural life and the potential breakup of their family.

Programming Notes
The programme opens with a work that introduces the queerness of environmental affect. Not yet fully submerged into the forest or the sea, A Distant Place opens a dialogue on the alternative forms of attachment that will continuously transform throughout the rest of our screenings.
